Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce "Rainbow" Chronograph

Patek Philippe, the venerable Swiss brand, recently made a significant announcement with the launch of a new generation of Nautilus models. However, their latest lineup of releases includes updates for various product lines. Surprisingly, the standout among these announcements is a women's watch - the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce "Rainbow" Chronograph, marking the brand's first-ever automatic chronograph targeted at women. Despite its feminine focus, this timepiece boasts a design that holds broad crossover appeal.

The 18k rose gold case of the Aquanaut Luce "Rainbow" Chronograph measures 39.9mm in width, offering an attractive and wearable size for both men and women, particularly with the Aquanaut line's characteristic squarish case geometry. Those familiar with the Aquanaut series will feel at home with its familiar elements, such as the tapering lugs, rectangular pushers, and low, wide crown guards seen in larger Aquanaut chronograph models.

The distinctive feature of this watch lies in its bezel, where Patek Philippe introduces a bold and intricate take on the popular rainbow gem-set motif. The bezel features twin rows of baguette-cut stones, with 40 colored sapphires forming a continuous spectrum around the dial's outer row, while the inner row boasts 40 baguette-cut diamonds, adding brilliance and visual width to the dial. The case is finished with a sapphire display caseback, revealing the craftsmanship of Patek Philippe's manufacture Caliber CH 28-520 vertical clutch automatic chronograph movement.

The rainbow gem-setting extends to the dial as well, with 12 sapphires of various colors flanking the applied 18k gold Arabic numerals. The engraved grid-style dial texture, typical of the Aquanaut line, is present here, layered on milky white mother of pearl. Instead of multiple chronograph subdials, Patek Philippe opts for a single 60-minute register at 6 o'clock, emphasizing a clean and uncluttered layout.

The watch's movement, Caliber CH 28-520, is an exquisite piece of craftsmanship, adorned with the Côtes de Genève pattern on the upper bridges, perlage on the lower bridges and baseplate, mirror-polished sinks and anglage, and a 21K engraved yellow gold rotor topped by radial Côtes de Genève. The watch's performance figures include a 45 to 55-hour power reserve with a beat rate of 28,800 bph, incorporating a high-tech Gyromax balance and Silinvar balance spring.

The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce "Rainbow" Chronograph is promoted as the brand's first-ever ladies' automatic chronograph, but its versatility in sizing, stunning presentation, and beloved design elements make it appealing to men as well. The watch comes with three textured rubber deployant straps in bright red, clean white, and matte beige.

Enthusiasts can now acquire the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce "Rainbow" Chronograph through authorized dealers, with an MSRP of $212,904 USD as of the time of this press release.
