Seiko's latest 2023 release, the Seiko Prospex Marinemaster 1965 Diver’s Modern Re-Interpretation series (SJE101, SJE099, and SJE097), showcases a fusion of design elements from the iconic 62MAS and the Marinemaster series.
The stainless steel cases, coated for durability, measure 39.5mm in diameter with angular facets on the lugs, offering a contemporary twist. Notably, these models feature screw-down display casebacks, a first for Seiko's professional dive watches.
Distinct from previous Marinemaster versions, the unsigned screw-down crowns are positioned at 3 o’clock, resembling the 62MAS. The 200-meter water resistance, bezel with modern grooves, and box-shaped sapphire crystals contribute to the series' updated aesthetic.
The trio includes the black SJE101, blue SJE099, and silvery white SJE097, with the latter being a limited edition celebrating Seiko’s 100th anniversary.
Powered by the slimline Caliber 6L37 automatic movement, the series boasts a svelte profile, running at 28,800vph with a 46-hour power reserve.
Priced at $2,800 USD, these models, while reminiscent of the 62MAS, represent a premium offering, catering to enthusiasts seeking a contemporary timepiece influenced by Seiko's dive watch heritage.
